"We will remember them"

Year 3/4S celebrated their class mass on Wednesday and led the parish in an act of remembrance. At the end of mass Fr. Michael spoke to the class about the altar and different aspects of the mass.

Environment Day

Thinking hard on a Friday!

 

 

The class worked very hard on solving our 'Think Friday' this week. In pairs the children were given 36 counters, 6 of each colour. Using a 6x6 grid they had to cover the squares so that no counters of the same colour were in any row, column or diagonal. Are you up for the…

Our trip back in time!

On Monday we travelled back to the Victorian times as we visited Quarry Bank Mill. We experienced life as a Victorian child, visiting the apprentice house and the cotton mill. It was a fantastic day, although we all agreed we were glad to return to 2015!

Guerilla Art

For the past two weeks,Year 4 have been looking at Guerilla art,  looking at the work of artists such as Banksy and in particular the French artist Invader.  They have created mosaics based on 8-Bit characters and I'm sure you'll agree they look fantastic.  They should be very proud of themselves…

Our Bible story plays

We have been learning about Jesus appearing to the apostles on the shore and the mission that he set to Peter.  The children wrote their own play scripts telling this story and performed them to the class.  They wrote some really brilliant scripts.

As part of our topic on the Tudors, we went back to the 1590's as we visited Bramall Hall in Stockport to live the life of a noble Tudor for the day, (at least most of us were nobles, one or two enjoyed being waited on a little to much!!!).

Egg-citing news at St Hugh's!

Something amazing happened over night at our school. Two giant eggs or so they appeared were found in the middle of the school field. Scientists arrived to investigate. In Y4 we did our own investigations and came up with some interesting results. Watch this space...
